Does 40% Count?

I cringed when the PM said sorry. I felt I was in Twilight Zone when he put the blame on his MPs instead of PAP grassroots leaders for their arrogance and ignorance [Link]. I had vertigo when he announced a committee to review ministers' salary!

I was amazed that Transport Mintster Lui took bus and MRT to prove that he deserve his millions. I was shocked that Vivian was at the flood drowning site [Link] and Tanglin Mall when it flooded yesterday [Link].

Are these for real? Or is this another way to "fix and buy"? [Link]

While they are at it, I strongly suggest that they pay attention to CPF. Many Singaporeans are pissed with CPF's management riding roughshod over its members. I trusted them but when I celebrated my 55th birthday, I realized that I've been screwed big time. Until then, I did not know that CPF have shifted the goalposts so many times to prevent me from getting my hard earned savings. In fact, they have made the "goalposts smaller that the ball"!

I know "You Can't Touch This" but brudder, it's time to "Set Me Free Why Don't You Babe? Get Out Of My Life Why Don't You Babe?
  1. Who give them the right to delay our CPF withdrawal?
  2. Who give them the right to increase the minimum sum?
  3. Who give them the right to increase Medisave?
  4. Who give them the right to charge an admin fee for use of Medisave?
  5. Who give them the right to start the CPF Life Annuity?
  6. When a Singaporean dies, will the nominee get the balance of the deceased's CPF balance in cash or will it be credited to nominee/s CPF?
Just who give them the right to come up with all those weird (I have lost count) schemes (Medisave, Minimum Sum, Annuity, etc.) to leech on to our money, to mess with our old age, our dignity?

I have been told by friends and relatives to lay off. To take a break from 'agitating' and 'antagonizing' the power that is. They say it would do me no good to be picked up by ISD as "there is no broadband in prison" and better not to "kowpeh" [Link].

Then again, if we just keep quiet and not have the courage to speak , write or blog, what's going to happen to our future? Who is going to help build a democratic society based on justice and equality? Who is going to make the millionaire mintsters work for their money? To wade through floods on Sunday morning and smell some sweaty armpits in MRT and buses during peak hours.

Does 40% votes that went against the PAP (Proud Arrogant Party) wake up their bloody ideas and not take us for granted?

I hope so.

Dear Sir
I very much enjoy your posts.

The more I study history, the more I realize the issues you raise are not new.

Here's an old quote that pre-dates your article:

"Those who profess to favor freedom, yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground.
They want rain without thunder and lightening.
They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.
This struggle may be a moral one;
or it may be a physical one;
or it may be both moral and physical;
but it must be a struggle.
Power concedes nothing without a demand.
It never did and it never will." -- Frederick Douglass

Fish,
40% does'nt count, not when it translates to only 6 seats out of 87 in parliament.

1/3 of the PAP buggers can afford to stay at home, 1/3 go for vacation to learn french cooking, and just 1/3 attend parliament sessions. The 1/3 who attend can afford to take a nap too and wait for the new speaker of the house to announce "kee chiu" those in support of the motion proposed by PM Lee.

Frankly, i am inclined to think it is best the 40% should not bother, because the misery will eventually catch up with the dumbass 60%

When they wanted to tinker with the CPF rules to imprison our money, we did nothing at the polls and still gave them a good mandate.

When they wanted to tinker with the election rules and introduced GRCs, we did nothing at the polls and still gave them a good mandate.

When they let in millions of foreigners without considering our plight, taking away our jobs, overtaxing our transport system, depriving our younger generation of affordable housing we still gave them a mandate.

When they already had a rope around our neck and tightening it, we then tried to do something, but are we a little too late?

40% sure does not look a strong enough signal to count. Try 45% next election if we want to make our votes count. And if that does not work, God help us!

With the noose tightening, its the 60% who got strangled and asphyxiated. The other 40% fought back and survived. When the 60% are dead, the rest are kings of our destiny and will raid The Reserves, if the EP permits, to return our rightful monies held in the CPF. So, you'll just have to wait for natural attrition of the 60% to finish off the PAP, new citizens notwithstanding.

u have put into words so succintly the angst & grief that people feel over these issues. Is there anything that can be done to make them undo these policies ?

It's also time to review the ERPs. I still cannot accept the need to pay ERP to go home everyday! ERP should also be designed to be sensitive to traffic flow. When cars are moving at snail pace, the max rate will be charged. But when cars are moving at a faster pace, then the rate should be reduced or even totally waived.

Sir,
Don't ever give up! You are a true Singaporean and the day they start locking up peaceful true Singaporeans will be a sad day.
But I believe we're beyond that now. Workers Party changed history, and we're now on a road of no-return
(and I guess that many in the PAP are well aware of that but don't know how to handle this new environment)

1st time reading your articles, very well said and I share the same sentiment (especially on CPF matter). I am one very worried about what is happening to my hard earned savings in my CPF Account, Govt keep increasing withdrawal age and minimum sum, will I live long enough to enjoy those savings of mine? Looking forward to more articles from you. Take care and best of luck!...LO
