The Value Of A Rumour and The Timbre of The Man

The above picture is extracted from TOC [Link] showing the media's stakeout at Yaw Shin Leong's house. If the picture above is what paparazzi is about in Singapore, my question is: Why are paparazzi, reporters and journalists of Singapore so selective of their preys? Why some get it and some don't?

After reading K Shamugum's letter to Alex Au through his lawyers [Link], I'm amazed that the newsmakers in msm are sitting pretty on their bottoms and not following up on the lead. If they were  responsible and credible newshounds, one would expect them to leave no stones unturned to go to the bottom of the story - to find out why the Law and Foreign Minister of Singapore did what he did.

The inactivity and silence from the msm on this juicy subject shows the incredible unequal value of rumours. Why would a certain rumour be so orgasmic that paparazzi, reporters and journalists would spare no effort to nail the truth? Why would another rumour be so flaccid that no paparazzi, reporters and journalists would give a damn?

Why? Could it be 'My boss told me not to play with fire and live dangerously'? Could it be self preservation? Could it be lack of integrity? Could it be Kiasu? Kiasi? Kia Chenghu?

I don't know.

You don't know.

Only the paparazzi, reporters and journalists know.

I remember during the 60's in Singapore, "Rumours are dangerous! Don't be a rumour monger!" was announced over the radio and flashed in black and white TV so very often. Geez, I can't exactly recall what it was about. It could be during the racial riots or the Indonesian confrontation. (I would appreciate if those who remember can help me out here by your comments.)

Anyway,  so why some get it and some don't? Why some get hounded like Yaw Shin Leong while others don't?  It may boil down to my personal adage that 'Power and money can cover and rid inconveniences and bad news'.

Would anybody agree that the sky in Singapore will fall should the Chua sisters follow up on why K Shanmugum did what he did through Allen&Gledhill?

Have a good week ahead!

Datuk Fish,
Remember? Never bites the hand that feeds you? As simple as that ! Need we say further? The downtrodden will forever be the wretched. That's life. Only the relentless wheel of Karma will straighten the scores! It will level out in due course. Do not be yayapapaya. The time will come.

Hahaha... Good one fish...great reading.

Are there still journalists in Singapore? Mmmm. If you consider these guys as journalists, they are a disgrace to the profession... More like lapdogs?

What's the big deal? With the Yaw's issue? They should leave it alone.. Like you say, why don't they go hound the mama or fool me ha? No balls most probably.

My father has given up reading Chinese newspaper and he asked me how come Singapore has no other news except YSL stories. I told him, to his dissappointment, that he has to put up with the press because it was owned by PAP and the reporters are paid to drag down WP at all cost. My dad was shocked and didn't know the press was state controlled. Now he knows and began to frown upon what he just learned.

Well done for educating your father.

Die Hard Votes for the Alternative Parties are won over one voter at a time.

My parents were die hard Party Against People supporters too.
What finally convinced them to become die hard Alternative Party supporters?

I told them about the maid levy I have to pay for employing a maid to help look after them in their old age.
I suggested that perhaps the maid levy may in reality, be a tax on filial piety.

Their eyes really opened BIG, BIG.

Instead of just letting these photographers happily clicking their camera away, we should also take photographs of them and post them on the Internet to let them have a feel what is it like to be at the receiving end.

So , with another lawyer's letter to TRE, the PAP playbook is always so predictable. Only goes to show, internet anonymity will stay for as long as there are

No Freedom of information act,
Freedom to Assembly Peacefully
Freedom of Free Press.

Don't ever fall for their 'superficial' niceness.
Given the infamous Scroobal has already upped the ante to challenge the defamation call, he even threw some names openly on the site, you have to wonder why no journalists will take up his offer to run the investigative work and report to the public?

Ah...because our journalists have no spine & integrity here. They know which side of the bread to butter.

We'll just keep supporting the cause by voting wisely in GE 2016.

And continue converting the PAP votes.
One voter at a time.

Eventually, there will be a tipping point.

Hmmm...so much news space given to Yaw. hope our Chua sister will write about this...can a law suit stick for someone to say there is rumour going around? Even tho the rumour is not mentioned in their posts. I thought the rumour was that he was a divorcee- but ST confirmed it. So what did Alex do wrong? our esteemed Straits Times must do their job... If we do not promote this sharing of information, you think it can lead to whistle blowing of wrong doings at the highest levels?

The state media construct is such that, when one is working in such an environment, he would take it as an implicit arrangement and instruction to be bias against the opposition cause......

..nothing can be more explicit than putting a former cabinet minister as the big boss to achieve this result.

Also, those ah peks are reading the tabloids with a pinch of salt...they do have a mind of their own..

Once again speak up against the State control media machinery.

For decades, the state-media has played a very big role in keeping the credible opposition parties from the media limelight, keeping them away from the voters as much as possible.

This is not playing fair.

The recent budget forums, PAP MP and member are the only party welcome by their media.

Whether it is Channel 5,8, CNA, Suria or Vasantham, this bias exists, after every single budget every single year.

Of course it is not only during budget discussion when the bias is keenly felt.

This is outright abuse of their mandate. Not forgetting that opposition has a collective votes of 40% of the total votes cast.

The good opposition parties which has uploaded ton of photos of their grassroot activities do not get to see the light in the ST, Mediacorp, Wanbao Berita Harian or Tamil Murasu.

Absolutely media grip across the society the PAP.

Then there is this General turned politician from PAP that we get to see his face almost every other day.

This is extremely unfair and unresonable of the PAP as far as the media is concerned.

Speak up for a free and independent media in the
Republic of Singapore today!
