Taking The Thunder Out Of Tharman's Budget Speech

Such 'Goodies' news usually happens after a Budget Speech

[Link]

So who took the thunder and lightning away from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam's FY2013 Budget Statement to be delivered in Parliament on Monday, 25 February 2013? [Link]

Non-PAP lovers may give credit to WP's Lee Li Lian for bringing up the subject of the high cost of bringing up children at the election rally last Saturday [Link]. I would think Laura did it. If not for Laura, there would not be Palmergate. If not for Palmergate, there would not be a by-election. If not for this by-election, we would not have the opportunity to be stucked in the mud and drizzle listening to Li Lian and her WP colleagues bringing up issues.

After watching WP's Png Eng Huat at the rally last Saturday, I'm curious if, in his adorable style, he would say: "Wah! sin pattern, meh?". As in a "new pattern" press release to win votes for PAP's Dr Koh in Punggol East with this give-aways by PAP before Election Day of 26 January 2013 and way way way way way ahead of the Budget speech on 25 February 2013. "Chit kuan eh pattern pun eh sai, meh?" "Pattern begini pun boleh, meh?" Pattern like this also can, meh?

Gee, old habits die hard. "Fixing and buying" Anyone?

Anyway, the bringing forward of the announcement of the so-called "goodies" by PAP shows how important it is for Singaporeans to have more alternative voices in parliament. How important it is to see Lee Li Lian get voted into parliament on 26 January 2013.

Granted, PAP lovers like to joke about the WP's "First World Parliament" like some of us love to joke about the absurdity of "Everybody has a car" and "picking dead leaves at longkong" and the explanation [Link] needed on the perception of the English language.

However, in all seriousness, the "First World Parliament" may come true very soon in Singapore. PAP lovers and cronies keep harping that WP is sleeping in Parliament without realising that some questions being asked by WP MPs are so sharp that even the Foreign Minister has to challenge Pritam Singh [Link].

With hands on heart, I'm sure everyone (whether has car or not)  will feel that we need more credible alternative voice in our parliament after watching this.

This is the same lady ( Sylvia Lim Swee Lian) who without fear, favour, fanfare or drumroll brought forth AIMgate which, possibly being the tip of an iceberg, may be the beginning of the end of PAP?

Dear East Punggolites, may we have another Lian in Parliament please.

Thank you from the bottom of my damaged heart.

Do you hear the people sing?

Yep, first world Parliament may come true after all.

But I think 'Swiss standard of living' is slipping further and further away for me and many others, my children included. So does 'more good years' and 'nobody will be left behind'.

You see, PAP promises always invariably turn out as what they say - 'chow tar' or burnt.

It's all karma quietly working in the background. The Chinese saying "人在作天在看!"
AIMGate is only the tip of the iceberg. There may even be more that we are not aware! Any idiot, retard or fool can connect with the implications of AIMGate. It is so obvious and crystal clear to the bones! Only that they thought we are as daft as they would like us to believe! Langgar!

Sorry it should be "人在做,天在看!自己作孽,自己当! (Dia tidak mengerti) ".

The Chinese character 做 written wrongly. When I counter checked even though both having the same pronounciation !

Brilliant speech by the lady of the House! I think most of them don't seem to have the "EQ" or "empathy" for the commoners!

I don't trust all the dollar values of these schemes.
I only believe it when real cash is put into my hands.

If really sincere, no need to waste time with all these complicated, difficult to understand schemes.
Just make delivery for babies free.

A pregnant woman goes to hospital for delivery.
Present her Singapore i/c.
Everything is free.
Make it simple.

Is this proof that PAP is only interested in helping rich people?

"Rich get $8.2b procreation tax benefits vs $2b procreation benefits?"

Perhaps Singapore's astronomically-paid political leaders should take heed of Obama's 2003 Inaugural Address:

For we, the people, understand that our country cannot succeed when a shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it.

Really there is no joy to shout about. Firstly, I think PAP is feeling the heat. Do you damn, don't do you also damn. So, they have no choice but to give the sweets before they are firm.

Secondaly, the Goodies they are giving may not be a good thing. In the past, when they give out $1, usually they collected back $10 from the people in terms of cost increase.

The PAP has been koon-ing or kuning (not the fish, but army slang for sleeping on the job). If Dr Koh Poh Koon is elected, they'll go back to sleep. See how they are rolling out the pork barrels? They will promise the sun, the moon and the stars, now, because it's your vote they want, nothing else, stupid.

For this Punggol East BE, not much to count on the sincerity towards those living in Punggol/ Sengkang, since the last-minute candidates are just echoing many problems here and attacking who are the bigger losers.

The voters will likely make their decisions based on the ability/ courage of the potential party willing to put the country in the right path. The BE result will also show those parties that are not up to the expectation of Singaporeans.

Dear Punggol East residents.
The PAP has a long term plan for your SMC.
That's why their candidate became a PAP member only a few weeks ago.

Vote them out.
And let's see if there are any more $2 companies in your Town Council accounts.

I think residents of every GRC or SMC should sign a petition requesting for by election every year so that more goodies will be role out. Power to the people.

The Pappies are trying very hard to retain Punggol East. Perhaps there are more cans of worms in their Town Council books that risk being opened if the SMC is lost ? PE voters, please help get Li Lian into Parliament so we can see what other skeletons are hidden under the PE Town Council carpet

Sir Fish
Thanks for your analytical mind and gusto! May God grant you long life. Take care.
If WP does win, I hope your heart can take it.

Thank you Fish for the video click regarding Slyvia presentation in parliament. It's great, I must say from the bottom of my heart. By the way, do you have the response from the house and can we also hear it? By the way, was there any follow up after that?

Looking at the expressionless faces in the parliament, please do not expect ministers to act on the advice. To them these are "wind blowing past their ears".
