The Party That Was!

For the average Singaporeans, this may be the mother of all parties!

It's only in this coffeeshop at Block 327 Hougang Avenue 5. The scene outside at Avenue 5 is even louder and more celebratory!

That's the party that was.

The other party that "was" is PAP. Looking at the press conference of PAP after BE, one would note that PAP is still on denial mode. By stating that the by election effect is what made WP win is another act of arrogance. Having been humbled by such a margin, I'm amazed that PAP still wants to act tough while licking its wounds.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why PAP cannot be humane and humble and "honest"(as in transparent and speaking from the heart instead of the stubborn brain). I also cannot fathom why they keep ignoring the obvious that there is so much unhappiness among Singaporeans. Without wasting precious resources on national conversations, commissions or enquiries to 'wayang", every Singaporean like Ahmad, Ah Beng, Kumar and Joe would guess:

  • Singaporeans feel cheated (played out) by the way our savings is handled by CPF.
  • Public Housing HDB flats are not subsidised. Profits are made from the sale of HDB flats.
  • HDB should sell flats at cost plus instead of benchmarking the selling price based on resale flats.
  • Many departments in government/statutory board are OUTSOURCING their jobs to others. Without the outsourcing of HDB to Town Councils to manage housing estates, the loss of residents' money to Lehman Bros would not have happened. Now we know that Town Councils have outsourced to AIM.
  • Worse, all these outsourcing from one contractor to another has helped to depress wages of labour especially cleaners and security guards.
  • Singapore is overcrowded not only with foreign workers but also their fathers, mothers, fathers-in-law, mother-s-in-laws and their maids.
  • Singaporeans are angry being called daft deserving spurs on our hides especially when we are so pestered to to be "better, faster and cheaper" workers.
  • Singaporeans are fed up that there is no equality and justice in Singapore - why certain people are charged and imprisoned for making racists' remarks while others are not. Why PAP government and their agencies allow certain MP to instruct traffic warden not to issue summons to offenders. When these agencies and PAP leaders allow such blatant bending of the rules and ignore the cries of citizens for justice and fair play, Singaporeans can only level the playing field by voting for the opposition.
  • Ministers make a mockery of National Service when they pay themselves $millions!
  • Ruling party has totally lost touch with the ground and the by election at Punggol East is the starker that only PAP is too blind to see.
It is a bitch now for PAP to recruit good new blood. Political aspirants with a sense of justice, fair play, equality and loyalty to Singapore may not touch PAP with a ten-foot-pole. Average Singaporean like Ahmad, Ah Beng, Kumar and Joe may even think that there is turmoil within PAP.

In response to George Yeo's, "Whither Singapore", one wonders, "Whither PAP"?

Whither PAP?
Should we care?

Our National Pledge is just an aspiration to them.

They can go their way.
We will go our way with our continued support of Opposition Parties.

Lets cut to the chase if I may, how many more GRCs do you think PAP will lose in 2016?

My guess: TWO.

Anyone who is more or less optimistic?

Wither PAP?

Look at the population White Paper they got for us.

Imagine the faces of the PAP voters when they realise what they got all of us into.

WP 3 , SDP 1, NSP 1 . Go on, spread the love, stop the fear. That way, there will be enough 2/3 to veto the bills in parliament with plural parties (who's not enough to form the govt), but enough to keep and stop the PAP.

veto PAP bills is not effective. PAP ministers can open the flood gate for 10 million immigrants without having to change a single law.
If you want to stop them, they have to be out of the Cabinet.

We are at 5.4 million. Then they said 6.0 million. Now it is 6.9 million. Whither Singapore? With the thumping they got at Punggol East, they are still in denial. Our voices are just noise to them. Forget about building a democratic society, and all that shit.

At this rate, just beyond the Horizon, we have Lost Singapore. We have lost Bukit Brown. In 20 years there will be no more Green Corridor, no more Pulau Ubin, no more Pulau Tekong, no more flowers for your children to smell. We will be packed like sardines in this little red dot, while the elites and the privledged will live in their ivory towers, counting the cash. Remember, population growth is non-reversable.

Do you want these for your children, and their children? They will be slaves to this insane drive for Growth at any cost. LeeConomics run amok. If things are bad now, it will be unimaginable then - 50% will be foreigners. They need a real thumping in 2016, otherwise we have Lost Singapore.

I'm on the side of Singaporeans.
We are here to serve.
Anything good, we will call you first (especially just before an election).

ROFL.

Yesterday, so many goodies for Singaporeans like new MRT tracks.
Today we find out it's for all the new & PLANNED population.

Hey Singaporeans.
Just how stupid do they think we are?

They are bashing ahead with the obstacle and not flanking it, they do already know that they are at the losing flak end with their own so while the opposition still not ready to from a governemnt they are making sure that they will not be killed by the wounds of their own and to adopt a thick face black heart approach

It's a nightmare to hear the news of the future intake of population!!!! So what with infrastructure that would accommodate with the increase million of people. It's totally unbelievable that this 80 minority decide the lives of the 3 over million citizens. I strongly object and reject!!!!

You seem to be unaware that the people if Singapore have been susbsidising the HDB for many years. Professor Linda Low(then of the NUS, and now a noted scholar in the US) has ponted out in her book more than 20 years ago that the CPF was a source of very cheap money for the HDB way below the market interest rate( especially in the 1970s and 80s when it was above 15%). They still do.This fact is not revealed in their statement that HDB flats are subsidised.

It's not Singaporeans who are subsidy minded.
It's the ruling elites who are subsidy minded.

How in the world can the PAP even say that they are on our side when everything they are doing is just the opposite.

More immigrants, more crowded trains and buses, more expensive homes, more CPF lockups and they are doing it like they heard nothing at all. I think 2011 was just a slap and they deserve a solid punch in 2016.

Going down the road, I cannot think how they will gain back the trust of Singaporeans if they continue to pursue a blind and deaf attitude towards citizen's voices of desperation. Their ivory tower arrogance and continued denial that the ground sentiments are far from working in their favour is going to be their downfall, slowly and steadily.

This is the most ridiculous Whte Paper. How can they even think of bringing more outsiders than the whole entire nation. Imagine Singaporeans Population = PRs. In other country there will be a serious up roar. This is the problem with one party rule with absolute power. Yes, this will be debated but we all know the outcome. No MP (except Opposition)will vote against it. Wayang wayang and wala, the bill is passed.

Here is an example of how a PAP politician will cope with the demand for increased amenities:

They will organize more golfing trips!
