6 Days to "Say No to 6.9 million"
May this Chinese New Year bring you joy and courage to be at Hong Lim Park on 16 Feb 2013 to bring peace, prosperity, progress and well-being to you, your children and their children.
While the above video may lighten us up, in a more serious note, Hazel Poa of NSP (National Solidarity Party) has written to the President and Prime Minister of Singapore requesting for a referendum to be held with regards to parliament's endorsement to have a population of 6 million in 2020 and 6.9 million in 2030. [Link]
Knowing Tony Tan and Lee Hsien Loong, we the citizens of Singapore know what the outcome would be of NSP's request. The President and PM can choose to ignore or come up with some excuses that the referendum will be detrimental to Singapore. We shall see.
Meanwhile, while the "Say No to 6.9 million" has gathered much steam in some msm [Link], some commentators are scaring concerned citizens who wish turn up at Hong Lim Park on 16 Feb 2013 that "ang chias" = "red police vans" (intimidating black marias) will be there. It is a shame that male Singaporeans trained in the military NS and doing reservist training can be intimidated by "ang chia" when the future of their descendants are at stake. Or are they not aware of the legitimacy of "Speakers' Corner" at Hong Lim Park for people to gather without fear to listen to speakers speak as long as it does not incite racial or religious sensitivity?
We do not break the law when we gather at Speakers' Corner to show the PAP rulers that having 6 million (in 2020) and 6.9 million (in 2030) when current infrastructure is incapable of supporting 5.3 million is suicidal. Insufficient infrastructures like exorbitant housing, clinics and hospitals, public transportation, school and university places and open spaces are the stuff that bug Singaporeans. The demonstration at Hong Lim Park is a show of solidarity that we love Singapore enough to not let it go to the dogs!
Please hear my plea: [Link]
To the more than 1,100 people who said on a Facebook page that they will or may join the demonstration on Feb. 16 at Speakers’ Corner, please be there.
To the 9,300 who have also “liked” another page that calls for a stand against the government and “Say ‘No’ to an Overpopulated Singapore.” come rain or shine, thunder or lightning, please be at Hong Lim Park at 4.30pm on 16 Feb 2013 to show our solidarity to have a SINGAPOREAN SINGAPORE!
Bitching, talking, blogging and forwarding emails and is not enough.
We don't want 6 million in 2020 or 6.9 million in 2030!
KEEP SINGAPORE CLEAN (BERSEH)!
My extended family and I will be there.
Will you?
Please forward this plea to all your friends and relatives so that with peace and humility we can show the arrogant PAP government that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

As promised, I announced to all I met on the 1st Day of this Lunar New Year, yesterday that there is an event on the 16th Feb at 4:30pm at Hong Ling Park.
Of course, the talk of the day was the White Paper and the various issues associated with it.
Cheers !
My husband and I will be there definitely!!!! Just can't believe such a bill can be passed within 5 days by 77 people on behalf of 3 millions over people!!!!!!!! argggggggggggggggggggggggggggh
This is what he said in August 2012:
.."He said that these anti-foreigner views that are expressed anonymously online can reflect badly on Singaporeans and damage Singapore’s international reputation, giving the impression that Singapore is anti-foreigner and xenophobic."
Image is everything to him.. image as seen by people overseas..
And a comment from a foreign talent....
“A fast growing, low tax and bank friendly environment like Singapore stands as a perfect antidote to the comparatively high tax and anti-banker sentiment of London and New York,”
Mark Cameron, chief operating officer at Astbury Marsden.
The only industry that is supported is finance.. very few Singaporeans qualify.. polytechnic students will be edged out by cheaper alternatives while FTs fill the ranks of finance.
Have they created industries that will offer jobs to our own people?? What happened to wafer fabrication? Biotech? employ only 1,500 people? what about the rest of graduates? sign on the SAF??
I definitely will be there with a few friends. We must show support for a good cause. And push for a referendum ! We will not accept this Trash of a White Paper being forced down on us ! Also hope this will be widely publicised in the international Media. Are you reading this CNN, Bloomberg, Washington Post......?

May be we should all sing this song Home Truly at the gardens ....
The Police surely will be there in plainclothes and there could be Uniformed Officers around if the crowd is huge. Their presence will be good for all participants at the Planned Rally.
Everyone depends on the Police to protect life and property, to uphold justice and the Law. Therefore they are not there to get You into trouble nor should anyone feel intimated by people who are there specifically assign to protect You. They will ensure that You will not be bullied and your safety. The fear mongers, scare tacticians and the ignorantly worried need not be fighten In any case, those genuinely worried can choose not to go near the venue.
Do have faith in our Police, they are also our Fellow Countrymen and they share our feelings too.

Fish, talking about police being there. There u have the post
"Absolute power corrupts absolutely!" is a time tested saying that its proven time and again. Ppl just don't realize that having too much power in the hands of few will result in this worst case scenario! When will they learn?
